High school student Kaede Akamatsu is kidnapped and awakens to find herself trapped within the sinister walls of the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, alongside fifteen other captive students, among them the reserved Shuichi Saihara. After a mysterious device restores their memories, each teenager recalls possessing an extraordinary "Ultimate" talent, with Kaede revealed as the Ultimate Pianist and Shuichi as the Ultimate Detective.
